Stearns Project: Tasting (Mini Skeins)
Stearns Project: Tasting (Mini Skeins)
Ten mini skeins of Greta's wool - one from each year we processed.
Description: This yarn has a very special story behind it, which can be found here. TLDR; this wool is from a single ewe, whose fleece was saved every year for the duration of her life, and processed individually to showcase her wool’s color changes as she aged. The result is a spectacular gradient from the darkest chocolate through light beige-gray and back to a medium gray over the span of twelve years (a total of ten fleeces were processed). She was never named, but her wool speaks for itself. It showcases both the strength and luster of Romney and the softness and body of Merino. It knits well at both sport and DK gauges. Most would find it comfortable on tender skin, but the extra-sensitive folks may want a layer underneath.
